The city of Cambridge is an old English University town. Home to the world renowned University of Cambridge the town has a population of over 108, 800 people, with 22, 153 of these enrolled students. The university was founded in 1284 by students who fled the hostile townspeople of Oxford to setup their own university. This beautiful city is a popular tourist destination, people from all around the world flock to Cambridge to visit a town that combines a rich history with a modern contemporary lifestyle.

Cambridge played a large role in the evolution of the modern game of football, the games first set of rules was drawn up by members of the university in 1848. The city is home to its own football team the Cambridge United F.C. who continue to improve yearly, with their most successful years coming in the mid 1990’s with FA cup quarter final appearances, and the team making it to the brink of promotion into the Premier League.

Each year the Cambridge University Boat Club square up against the Oxford University Boat Club in a world renowned boat race down the Thames in London. The race was first run in 1829 and has been run annually since 1856 creating a bitter rivalry that is watched by millions around the world. An estimated quarter of a million people pack the river back each year to lay witness to the race, with a further estimated 120 million people across the UK and around the world tuning in to watch the race on TV.
